northeastwestsouth.net, n.e.w.s. is a horizontally-organised, cumulative knowledge-based website for contemporary art and new media framed by curatorial contributions from around the globe, bringing together voices and images from North, East, West and South. n.e.w.s. reflects geographic diversity and facilitates a framework for collaboration, content and visions of change outside the normal parameters of the established art world networks.
(H)ART is a young and fast-growing Belgian print magazine for contemporary art. It wants to keep up with the contemporary expressive art scene in an alert and accessible way: (H)ART appears every three weeks. Now in its third year, (H)ART– after having conquered its place in Belgium – wants to start working more internationally. That's why we are planning a (H)ART International section and we are looking for good international writers and/or critics, who can use their expertise to report about the contemporary expressive art in their region or country.

Furtherfield.org was founded in London in 1996 and is the collaborative work of artists, programmers, writers, activists, musicians and thinkers who explore beyond traditional remits; dedicated to the creation, promotion, and criticism of adventurous digital/networked media art work for public viewing, experience and interaction. Developing imaginative strategies in a range of digital & terrestrial media contexts, Furtherfield develops global, contributory projects that facilitate art activity simultaneously on the Internet, the streets and public venues. Twelve years on, the Furtherfield neighbourhood of sister-sites and projects such as VisitorsStudio, Rosalind-Upstart New Media Lexicon, HTTP [House of Technologically Termed Practice], Furthernoise, 5+5=5 NetArtFilm, Do-It-With-Others (DIWO), has morphed and expanded with over 600 active and regular contributors and a regular readership/audience of approximately 26,000 people around the world. Its activities and projects have steadily grown in scope and ambition and Furtherfield.org is currently listed second in Dazed and Confused's Digital 50, favorite sites for global creativity.

”User Labor Markup Language (ULML), is an open data structure to outline the metrics of user participation in social web services. Our aim is to construct criteria and context for determining the value of user labor for
distribution. We believe that universality, transparency, and accessibility of user labor metrics will ultimately lead to more sustainable service cycles in social web.”

„What is this project about? Ondrej: The dog carpets are essentially about society's hypocrisy. It questions the special status that dogs and cats have in our, western society. Although we can see that in China, despite the local culture and cuisine, the pet culture is on its rise as well. The Bolivian experience was about hypocrisy as well, but it involved on a larger and direct scale mechanisms and structures within the society. Kristofer: It's about the tradition of producing carpets with wild animals as a hunting fetish. But in this case we were using an inappropriate animal, a pet - and like this we wanted to question the values behind this tradition. Ondrej was speaking to me about this idea already before the Bolivia show, but when I got the opportunity to participate in that show I thought it would be interesting to realize the dog carpets there with Ondrej, mainly for three reasons: more adventure, lower production costs and the problem of street dogs in South America (in contrast to the beloved inhouse pet in North America and in most European countries).” full documentation
