20080530 tranzit

Művészetelméleti és gyakorlati szabadiskola keretében, a Román Kulturális Intézet támogatásával:

Periferic Biennálé - Tájékoztató a szakma és a sajtó részére
Matei Bejenaru, képzőművész, a Periferic kezdeményezője és művészeti igazgatója
Hegyi Dóra, a 2008 októberében megrendezésre kerülő Periferic 8 Biennálé kurátora
Az előadást filmvetítés követi.

Matei Bejenaru: Maersk Dubai (7,30"), 2007
"1996 tavaszán 3 román fiatalt a tengerbe dobtak a tajvani Maersk Dubai fedélzetéről, mivel illegálisan, potyautasként próbáltak az Atlanti-óceánon át Kanadába jutni. A TV-ben hallottam a három román fiatal haláláról szóló híreket. 10 évig tartott, mire megértettem, hogy tragédiájuk a 90-es évek Romániájának szimbóluma, egy tönkretett országé, amelyik igyekezett a kommunista diktatórát maga mögött hagyni."

Stefan Constantinescu: El Pasaje (Az utazás) (62'), 2005, Stockholm

Matei Bejenaru képzőművész a romániai Iasiban rendezett Periferic Biennale (www.periferic.org) kezdeményezője. Bejenaru Iasi-i művészek és filozófusok egy csoportjával 2001-ben megalapította a Vector Egyesületet, majd a Vector - art and culture in context magazint, melynek szerkesztőségi tagja.

Stefan Constantinescu (sz. 1968, Bukarest) a stockholmi Királyi Művészeti Akadémián tanult, ahol 1997-ben diplomázott. Rendszeresen részt vesz csoportos és egyéni kiállításokon Németországban, Olaszországban, Dániában, Litvániában, Svájcban, Svédországban és Romániában. Az utóbbi években érdeklődése elsősorban a videófilmek felé fordult.

Május 31-én és június 1-én Matei Bejenaru, Simona Nastac, Catalin Gheorghe és Vlad Morariu a Művészetelméleti és gyakorlati szabadiskola keretében tart szemináriumot a kortárs román képzőművészetről

'antisocial notworking' is a repository of projects that explore the pseudo-agency of online social platforms. The concern is how the Internet is increasingly charactised as a 'platform' (or collective machine) for 'social' uses, but to question what is meant by the terms in such descriptions. Although social networking platforms rely on user-generated content, what is the nature of this participation? What alternatives (or antitheses) can be identified?

DOG CARPETS (2007), A project by Ondrej Brody & Kristofer Paetau

Museo Tambo Quirquincho, La Paz, Bolivia
Prague Biennale 3, Prague, Czech Republic
Kressling Gallery, Slovakia
What is this project about? Ondrej: The dog carpets are essentially about society's hypocrisy. It questions the special status that dogs and cats have in our, western society. Although we can see that in China, despite the local culture and cuisine, the pet culture is on its rise as well. The Bolivian experience was about hypocrisy as well, but it involved on a larger and direct scale mechanisms and structures within the society. Kristofer: It's about the tradition of producing carpets with wild animals as a hunting fetish. But in this case we were using an inappropriate animal, a pet - and like this we wanted to question the values behind this tradition. Ondrej was speaking to me about this idea already before the Bolivia show, but when I got the opportunity to participate in that show I thought it would be interesting to realize the dog carpets there with Ondrej, mainly for three reasons: more adventure, lower production costs and the problem of street dogs in South America (in contrast to the beloved inhouse pet in North America and in most European countries).”
